Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has revealed that former captain and mentor Gautam Gambhir's uncompromising standards were instrumental in the franchise's IPL 2024 title win.
Iyer described Gambhir as having "an aura" and never accepting mediocrity, setting a culture of excellence that drove the team to championship success.
Gambhir, who led KKR to two previous IPL titles as captain, returned to the franchise in a mentorship role ahead of the 2024 season. His influence helped shape a squad that ultimately lifted the trophy.
KKR secured their third IPL crown in 2024, with Gambhir's leadership philosophy cited as a key factor by players and management alike.
