Josh Allen has reclaimed the top spot in the Week 9 NFL quarterback power rankings after leading the Buffalo Bills to a 6-1 record and the AFC's No. 1 seed. Allen posted 289 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while adding 30 rushing yards and a touchdown, and he leads the league in yards per pass attempt (8.7) and ranks second in total touchdowns (20).
Jared Goff holds at No. 2 following the Detroit Lions' signature win over the previously unbeaten Minnesota Vikings. Goff has thrown 15 touchdowns with just one interception through seven games, joining Tom Brady, Alex Smith, and Patrick Mahomes as the only quarterbacks with those numbers in a season's first seven games. Brock Purdy remains third on his bye week, leading the NFL in EPA per dropback (0.27) and ranking third in passer rating (110.1). Joe Burrow sits fourth despite becoming the first player in NFL history with a 70% completion rate and four-plus touchdowns in three straight games; three interceptions against the Tennessee Titans kept him from rising. Trevor Lawrence rounds out the top five, leading the league in passer rating (112.6) for the 5-2 Jacksonville Jaguars.
Patrick Mahomes climbed two spots to No. 9 after throwing for 321 yards and three touchdowns in a narrow loss to the Denver Broncos, though he has averaged under 5.0 air yards per attempt in three consecutive games. Kirk Cousins rose three places to No. 10 with 19 passing touchdowns, second in the NFL. Jayden Daniels jumped four spots to No. 13 after joining elite company as the sixth player ever with 240-plus total yards per game, eight total touchdowns, and zero turnovers through five starts. The biggest riser was Tennessee Titans rookie Cam Ward, who surged seven spots to No. 25 after a career-high 304 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in an overtime loss to Cincinnati.
Among the notable fallers, Michael Penix Jr. dropped five spots to No. 15 following a four-interception meltdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Deshaun Watson fell six places to No. 26 after being sacked eight times by the Pittsburgh Steelers, bringing his season total to 33 sacks — 10 more than any other quarterback. Kyler Murray slipped four spots to No. 23 as the Minnesota Vikings suffered their first loss, with Murray ranking 30th in passing yards per game (170.3).
At the bottom of the rankings, Justin Herbert sits at No. 31 with an NFL-high 10 interceptions and 12 total turnovers for the winless Los Angeles Chargers. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano debuts at No. 32 after starting for the Baltimore Ravens in place of the injured Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, throwing for 91 yards with an interception in a loss to Buffalo.
