The Tampa Bay Rays have added infielder Hanser Alberto and outfielder Jack Suwinski to their 40-man roster, the club announced Wednesday.
The moves protect both players from the Rule 5 Draft and signal the organization's intent to retain depth for the 2027 season. Alberto, a veteran utility infielder, provides defensive versatility across the infield. Suwinski, acquired earlier this year, showed power potential with the Oklahoma City Comets, hitting a solo home run in a July 24 game against the Sacramento River Cats at Sutter Health Park.
Both players will attend major league spring training in 2027 and compete for roster spots. The Rays' 40-man roster now stands at 38 players, leaving room for additional offseason acquisitions.
