Bold Trade Predictions for 2026 MLB Offseason: AL West Edition
World Sports · 06:41:05 - Friday, 30 October 2026

As the 2026 MLB offseason approaches, each American League West team faces decisions that could reshape their rosters before Opening Day 2027. Here is a look at one player from each club who could be dealt, based on contract status, performance, and team direction.

Houston Astros: Christian Walker

The 35-year-old first baseman has hit 25 or more home runs in five consecutive seasons. His 2026 slash line of .226/.299/.427 nearly mirrored his 2025 mark of .238/.297/.421, showing consistent power despite a lower batting average. With Walker set for free agency in 2028 and a crowded infield that includes Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Isaac Paredes, and Jeremy Peña, Houston could trade him to shift Paredes to first base and install Correa at third base. Potential landing spots: Arizona Diamondbacks, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers.

Texas Rangers: MacKenzie Gore

Acquired for five prospects last offseason, the left-hander struggled in 2026 with a 4.58 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 173 innings, though he posted a 2.70 ERA in 26.2 August innings. His 4.18 xERA suggests some bad luck. Gore earns $9.8 million in 2027 before free agency in 2028, making him an affordable rotation option. Texas may listen to offers to recoup value. Potential landing spots: Miami Marlins, New York Mets, Detroit Tigers.

Seattle Mariners: Logan Gilbert

From 2021-26, the right-hander made 178 starts with a 3.60 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and .224 opponent average, topping 180 innings in four of five seasons. He missed time in 2025 with a right elbow flexor strain but returned strong. Due $15 million in 2027 before free agency in 2028, Gilbert could be moved if Seattle pivots to a rebuild after missing the 2026 postseason despite a near-World Series run in 2025. Potential landing spots: Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres.

Athletics: Shea Langeliers

The catcher has hit 20-plus homers in four straight seasons with an OPS above .800 the last two years. He slugged 21 home runs before the 2026 All-Star break, then tore a meniscus in his right knee. After returning, he hit .284/.346/.432 with two homers in 20 games. Langeliers was expected to be traded at the 2026 deadline but stayed. He is under team control through 2029 and arbitration-eligible, making him a valuable asset. Potential landing spots: Philadelphia Phillies, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees.

Los Angeles Angels: Zach Neto

The shortstop has posted 20-plus home runs in three consecutive seasons and is not a free agent until 2030. With new owner Stan Kroenke finalizing a record $4 billion purchase from Arte Moreno, the organization's direction is uncertain. Trading Neto could jump-start a rebuild and might even facilitate moving Mike Trout's contract. Potential landing spots: Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees.
