Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis was hospitalized on Wednesday following a medical emergency at the team facility, his father T. Carlton Lewis announced on social media. Lewis is now recovering, though specific details about the incident have not been disclosed. The family has requested privacy during this time.

Colorado Athletics released a statement expressing full support for Lewis and his family. "He remains in the thoughts of every CU player, coach, and staff member and we will continue to assist in any way we can in his full recovery. His health and well-being remain our top priority during this time," the statement read. The program said it had no further details to share.

Lewis, a sophomore in his second season with the Buffaloes, joined Colorado as a four-star recruit in the 2025 signing class and was ranked the No. 10 quarterback nationally by 247Sports. He won the starting job out of training camp and started the first four games of the season, including a season-opening road win over Georgia Tech where he threw a late touchdown pass to Charlie Williams. After the offense struggled, Isaac Wilson took over as starter for the past three games.

One day before the hospitalization, head coach Deion Sanders addressed the possibility of Lewis regaining the starting role. "That's on him," Sanders said, per 247Sports. "I don't think you could find a player in this program ... but I don't treat people unfairly. I don't play games with young men and their careers."

In eight career appearances, Lewis has completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 1,322 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.
