The Detroit Red Wings have suspended captain Dylan Larkin after the forward informed the organization he would no longer play for the franchise, the team announced Thursday.
The decision comes after Larkin, 30, communicated his intention to not continue his career with Detroit. The Red Wings did not specify the length of the suspension or whether it is related to a contract dispute.
Larkin, a Michigan native, has spent his entire 11-year NHL career with the Red Wings since being selected 15th overall in the 2014 draft. He was named captain in 2021 and has recorded 637 points in 673 regular-season games.
The Associated Press reported the suspension on October 29, 2026. The Red Wings have not commented on potential next steps regarding Larkin's status with the organization.
