Former professional tennis player and current ESPN analyst Brad Gilbert has reacted to Jannik Sinner's decision to hire Magnus Norman as his new coach, replacing Juan Carlos Ferrero. The Italian world number one announced the coaching change earlier this week, ending his partnership with Ferrero after two seasons.
Gilbert, known for his candid commentary, offered his perspective on the move during a recent broadcast. He noted that Norman brings extensive experience having previously coached Stan Wawrinka to three Grand Slam titles. The change comes as Sinner looks to build on his breakthrough 2024 season which included his first major title at the Australian Open.
Ferrero, a former world number one himself, guided Sinner to the Australian Open crown and the ATP Finals title in 2024. Norman joins Sinner's team ahead of the 2025 season, with the player aiming to maintain his position at the top of the men's game.
