Former New York Yankees outfielder Mickey Rivers, who played for the team from 1976 to 1979, is being recognized on his birthday. Rivers, known for his speed and defensive prowess, was a key member of the Yankees' back-to-back World Series championship teams in 1977 and 1978.
A photograph from circa 1977 shows Rivers running the bases at Yankee Stadium during a Major League Baseball game. The image captures the era when Rivers patrolled center field for the Bronx Bombers.
Rivers' tenure with the Yankees included a .288 batting average and 112 stolen bases over four seasons. His contributions helped New York secure consecutive titles, cementing his place in franchise history.
