Real Madrid will be required to pay RB Leipzig a €2.5 million bonus if forward Yan Diomande wins the Ballon d'Or, according to a clause in the player's transfer agreement. The conditional payment forms part of the deal that brought Diomande to the Spanish capital from the Bundesliga club.
The clause represents a significant performance-related incentive tied to the sport's most prestigious individual award. Diomande, who joined Real Madrid from Leipzig, would need to be voted the world's best player for the German club to receive the additional fee.
Such bonus structures are common in high-profile transfers, allowing selling clubs to benefit from a player's future success at their new team. The Ballon d'Or trigger is among the most ambitious performance metrics used in modern football contracts.
