The Miami Heat earned their first victory of the 2026-27 NBA season after four consecutive losses to open the campaign. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two-time MVP who joined the Heat in the offseason, was expected to immediately elevate the team into Eastern Conference contention, but his first win in a Miami uniform came at the fifth attempt.
The breakthrough ended an early-season slump that had raised questions about the team's integration of its new star. Photographer Kevin C. Cox documented the moment as the Heat finally entered the win column.
