Penn State head coach James Franklin took advantage of the team's off week to evaluate a Virginia Tech running back commit in person, according to a report by USA TODAY's Ansley Gavlak on Friday.
Franklin attended a high school game featuring the uncommitted prospect, who has pledged to the Hokies, as part of his recruiting efforts during the bye week.
The visit underscores the importance of in-person evaluations even for players already committed to other programs.
