The Tampa Bay Rays have parted ways with center fielder Cedric Mullins and an unnamed Martinez as part of a roster reset aimed at the 2027 season, according to a report published Saturday.
The move comes shortly after Mullins, 31, celebrated a run scored with left fielder Chandler Simpson during Game 4 of the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Tropicana Field on October 27, 2026. The Rays' decision signals a strategic shift as the organization looks toward the future.
Details regarding the specific Martinez involved and the contractual mechanisms of the departures were not immediately disclosed. The Rays' front office has yet to comment on the broader restructuring plan.
