Newly promoted Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City have made encouraging starts to the 2026-27 Premier League season, collecting a combined 31 points after nine matches – the 13th-highest tally by promoted sides at this stage in Premier League history.

Coventry lost their first four games by a combined 10-0 but have since won three of their next five, including victories over Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Sunderland, lifting them to 15th place with nine points. Manager Frank Lampard oversaw a summer spend of more than £140 million on 12 permanent signings, including club-record arrival Caleb Yirenkyi, Carl Rushworth, Sidiki Cherif, Loum Tchaouna and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Ipswich Town, back in the top flight after a 22-year absence and immediate return following relegation in 2024-25, sit on 11 points. The Tractor Boys have been boosted by the return of Paraguay international Julio Enciso, who has scored in consecutive matches against Nottingham Forest and Hull City. Manager Gary O'Neil praised his side's character after they came from behind to draw 2-2 with Hull on Saturday.

Hull City, promoted via the Championship play-offs, stunned Manchester United 2-0 on the opening day and followed with a 1-0 win at Coventry and draws against Aston Villa and Chelsea. However, the Tigers have collected only three points from their last four matches and face Arsenal and Brighton next. Manager Sergej Jakirovic's side also have 11 points.

Since the 2010-11 season, all 18 promoted teams that gathered at least 11 points from their first nine games have avoided relegation, offering further encouragement for the trio.
