The San Diego Padres have declined the contract option on right-handed pitcher Nick Pivetta, making him a free agent, according to a report from Last Word on Sports.
Pivetta, who joined the Padres organization, threw for the team during the 2026 season. The decision to decline his option opens the door for the veteran starter to sign with any club this offseason.
The move comes as San Diego continues to shape its roster for the upcoming campaign. Pivetta will now enter the open market where multiple teams could express interest in adding rotation depth.
