The Milwaukee Brewers have begun their offseason roster moves by exercising the contract option for catcher William Contreras and extending a qualifying offer to first baseman Jake Bauers.
Contreras, 24, has been a key contributor for Milwaukee behind the plate. The option exercise keeps him under team control for the upcoming season. Bauers, who wore number 9, receives a qualifying offer that gives the Brewers draft compensation if he signs with another club.
The moves come as the organization starts shaping its roster following a postseason run that included a National League Championship Series appearance against the Los Angeles Dodgers in October 2026.
