Fantasy Football Week 9 WR Preview: Mike Evans Eyes Return with WR1 Upside
World Sports · 16:55:25 - Thursday, 5 November 2026

As fantasy managers prepare for Week 9, the focus shifts to several high-profile wide receivers returning from bye weeks or injury. Malik Nabers, Chris Olave, and Nico Collins are all back from byes, while Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel are hopeful to rejoin their lineups. Rookie Jordyn Tyson could also make his season debut for the New Orleans Saints, potentially reducing the role of Devaughn Vele.

Evans presents the most intriguing upside if he suits up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When healthy this season, he has averaged 10.8 yards per target with a 7.6% touchdown rate and a 31.7% target-per-route-run rate. However, Week 1 remains the only game where he has played more than 65% of offensive snaps, keeping his fantasy ranking around WR20 due to durability concerns.

Samuel, meanwhile, profiles as a WR3 or high-upside flex for the San Francisco 49ers. He has scored 12-plus PPR points in three of five games, though one such performance stemmed from a hook-and-ladder play that yielded 80 receiving yards on zero catches in Week 3. If he practices fully, expect five to seven touches.

On the waiver wire, Philadelphia Eagles rookie Makai Lemon has seen 17 targets over his last two games, scoring at least 11.7 PPR points in each. With Devonta Smith sidelined, Lemon is a viable WR3 in full PPR leagues. Washington Commanders rookie Antonio Williams led the team in snaps, routes, and targets in the first game without Terry McLaurin, making him an upside WR3 despite a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

In daily fantasy sports, Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba stands out as a top play. He previously torched the Arizona Cardinals for nine catches, 155 yards, and three touchdowns, and projects for 26.7 points. A contrarian option is Carolina Panthers' Jalen Coker, who sees more slot snaps than teammate Tetairoa McMillan and could benefit from a negative game script against the Denver Broncos.

Key statistical nuggets for the week include: Zay Flowers scoring zero fantasy points in his debut with quarterback Joe Fagnano; Keenan Allen maintaining a 27% target-per-route-run rate; Michael Wilson leading all receivers with 327 routes run; Rashee Rice posting a 29.6% TPRR in his return; and Khalil Shakir pacing the league with 9.0 yards after catch per reception.
