The New York Giants have agreed to a three-year, $46 million contract extension with cornerback Greg Newsome II, according to reports. The deal includes $32 million in guaranteed money and carries an average annual value of $15.3 million.
Newsome, 26, originally joined the Giants on a one-year, $8 million deal in March. His new extension represents a significant raise and places his average salary just below Detroit Lions cornerback D.J. Reed ($16 million AAV) and above Tennessee Titans cornerback Cordale Flott ($15 million AAV).
Through six games this season, Newsome has allowed a 53.6% completion rate on targets against him and a 57.7 passer rating when targeted, which would be a career best. His previous career low was a 73.2 passer rating allowed in 2023 and 2025 with the Cleveland Browns. He has yet to surrender a touchdown and has given up only two completions of 20-plus yards, while recording one interception.
A first-round pick (No. 26 overall) by the Browns in 2021, Newsome spent four and a half seasons in Cleveland before being traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in early October 2024. He struggled in Jacksonville, allowing five passing touchdowns over 12 games. His performance with the Giants has been markedly improved, prompting both sides to extend the partnership beyond 2026.
