AEK Athens, a historic Greek football club, uniquely references Spanish giants Real Madrid in their official anthem. The connection was highlighted during a UEFA Champions League group stage match on 22 October 2002 at the Santiago Bernabéu, where Real Madrid hosted AEK Athens. In that encounter, Brazilian star Ronaldo contested possession with AEK defender Nikolaos Kostenoglou under the watchful eye of midfielder Konstantinos Katsouranis. The club's anthem reflects a long-standing admiration for Real Madrid, making AEK Athens a rare example of a club celebrating a rival in its own song.
