Free agency for the 2026-27 MLB offseason is officially open, and CBS Sports experts have predicted landing spots for several top free agents.

Adrian Morejon (No. 2)

Mike Axisa projects Morejon to the Chicago Cubs, citing their need for pitching and the possibility of a starter conversion. Dayn Perry sees the New York Yankees as a fit for the young reliever with starter potential. Matt Snyder also favors the Cubs, noting Wrigley Field suits left-handers and the team may pursue consolation prizes after missing on Tarik Skubal.

Trevor Rogers (No. 3)

Axisa links Rogers to the New York Mets, a data-heavy team needing a starter. Perry predicts the Cubs again, as they need rotation help and may not spend on Skubal. Snyder suggests the Atlanta Braves, who have pitching injury concerns and could use Rogers as a long-term left-handed option behind Chris Sale.

Freddy Peralta (No. 5)

Axisa favors the Chicago White Sox, who need reliable starting pitching and have a connection via manager Craig Counsell. Perry picks the Tampa Bay Rays, where Peralta improved after a trade deadline deal, and the Rays may spend more with a new ballpark and CBA. Snyder sees the Seattle Mariners, who might trade starters and need a replacement, with Peralta liking their ballpark.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (No. 6)

Axisa projects Chisholm to the Toronto Blue Jays, who need left-handed power and could play him at second base. Perry suggests the Detroit Tigers, following their success with Gleyber Torres, on a mid-term deal with opt-outs. Snyder predicts the Arizona Diamondbacks, assuming they trade Ketel Marte, with Chisholm on a one-year prove-it deal.

Randy Arozarena (No. 9)

Axisa sees Arozarena joining the Texas Rangers as a full-time DH to add grit and right-handed power alongside Brandon Nimmo and Corey Seager. Both Perry and Snyder favor the Philadelphia Phillies, who need corner outfield help and are willing to invest in short-term fixes to contend for a World Series.
