Ravens Lose Backup Tyler Huntley for Season as Quarterback Crisis Deepens
World Sports · 11:57:08 - Friday, 6 November 2026

The Baltimore Ravens' quarterback situation has worsened with confirmation that backup Tyler Huntley will miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to a turf toe injury suffered in Sunday's 36-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The news comes as starter Lamar Jackson continues to deal with a thumb injury that could also sideline him for the rest of the year.

Injury Details and Roster Moves

Huntley, 29, was injured when Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver landed on the back of his foot, causing a turf toe injury to the plantar structures of his first metatarsophalangeal joint. With both Huntley and Jackson unavailable, undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano out of UConn finished Sunday's game and is set to start Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To address the depth shortage, the Ravens added Austin Reed — who was with the team in the preseason — to the practice squad and signed Kedon Slovis off the Green Bay Packers' practice squad. Reed has never taken a regular-season snap, while Slovis has five career regular-season appearances.

Huntley's Role and Recent Performance

Huntley has spent six of his seven NFL seasons with Baltimore after entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He has started 14 games for the Ravens, including three this season while Jackson managed an ankle injury. Huntley led the team to a win over the Atlanta Falcons but lost starts against the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals before Jackson's brief return.

Trade Deadline Options Loom

With the November 10 trade deadline approaching, the Ravens may explore external options to stabilize the position. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has mentioned Tyson Bagent and Jacoby Brissett as potential trade targets. Baltimore currently sits at 4-4 on the season and has lost three consecutive games.
