Aston Villa's unnamed star has confirmed that Real Madrid expressed interest in signing him in 2021, but the transfer ultimately collapsed. The player stated that he understands why the Spanish giants opted to sign David Alaba instead.
The revelation came in a recent interview where the player reflected on the failed move. Real Madrid secured the services of Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021, strengthening their defensive options.
While the player did not disclose specific details about the negotiations, he acknowledged that Alaba's arrival made sense for the club's plans at the time.
