Week 8 of the NFL season concludes on Monday night as the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) host the Chicago Bears (5-2) at Lumen Field. The Seahawks' backfield could receive a significant boost with the return of running back Zach Charbonnet, who tore his ACL in the NFC divisional round playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers in January. Charbonnet does not carry a game status on Seattle's final injury report, indicating he is available to play.
The status of rookie running back Jadarian Price remains less clear. Price has missed the last four games with a chest injury while on injured reserve and would need to be activated by 4 p.m. local time on Monday. The team has designated Price for return, with reports suggesting he will play. "We're going to let the transaction speak for itself on that one," head coach Mike Macdonald said.
Seattle's ability to establish the run game will be crucial against a high-powered Bears offense led by quarterback Caleb Williams. Controlling the clock would keep Williams off the field and slow Chicago's pass rush, a key factor for Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, who has the NFL's worst expected points added (EPA) per dropback when pressured at -0.63. The Seahawks traded for guard Quenton Nelson to bolster protection, and he could make his Seattle debut on Monday.
"We have a plan for Zach and with JD," Macdonald said on Saturday. "If we were to make a move, that would happen on Monday to my knowledge. We'll see if that's what we do. We have some things going on roster-wise that we're working through right now, but we have a plan for Zach." The Seahawks have two more weeks to decide on Price's status before he would be required to move to season-ending injured reserve. If Price is not activated, Charbonnet would likely share the workload with Emanuel Wilson, who leads the team in rushing yards (403), rushing touchdowns (three), and carries (111).
