England scrum-half Alex Mitchell has been ruled out of the upcoming Nations Championship, dealing a blow to the team's preparations. The 27-year-old Northampton Saints player, who has earned 32 caps for England, will miss the tournament due to injury.
The news was reported by BBC rugby union correspondent Chris Jones on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Mitchell's absence leaves a significant gap in England's half-back options, as he has been a regular starter under head coach Steve Borthwick.
England will now need to rely on alternative scrum-half options for the championship, which features the top European nations. The team's medical staff will continue to assess Mitchell's recovery timeline ahead of future international windows.
