Penn State Nittany Lions secured a 2-1 shootout victory over the Minnesota Gophers at 3M Arena at Mariucci in Minneapolis, with goaltender Fleming delivering the decisive saves in the skills competition.
The tightly contested NCAA hockey matchup saw both teams trade chances throughout regulation and overtime before the shootout determined the winner. Penn State forward Christian Sarlo, wearing number 10, was prominent in the offensive zone, battling Minnesota defenseman Mike Koster (number 4) for puck possession during key sequences.
Fleming's performance in the shootout proved the difference, turning aside Minnesota's attempts to secure the extra point for the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten conference standings.
