Former President Donald Trump dismissed football as "boring as hell" during a campaign event for U.S. Senator Darline Graham on August 21, 2026, at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in South Carolina. "Who the hell wants to watch football?" Trump asked the crowd, according to reporting by Kevin Harrish of The Comeback.
The remarks came as Trump campaigned for Graham ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The event took place on a Friday evening in the coastal city of Myrtle Beach, a frequent stop for Republican candidates.
Trump's characterization of football — whether referring to American football or soccer — drew attention given the sport's massive popularity in the United States. The comments were published on November 1, 2026.
