South Africa's city of Durban has entered the bidding race to host the 2036 or 2040 Summer Olympics, according to a report from the German Press Agency (DPA) on October 29, 2026.
The announcement adds Durban to a growing list of potential candidates for the future Games. The International Olympic Committee has not yet opened the formal bidding process for those editions.
