Giants Target Running Back and Defensive Tackle Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

The New York Giants enter Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season with a 4-2-1 record and first place in the NFC East, a sharp turnaround from last year's 2-5 start. With the trade deadline set for November 10, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Friday that the Giants are actively seeking upgrades at running back and defensive tackle.

New York traded Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals in April, netting a second first-round pick, but has yet to fill the void. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler notes that Tampa Bay Buccaneers veteran A'Shawn Robinson, 31, is a name circulating among teams as a productive, low-cost interior lineman.

At running back, the Giants could pair rookie Cam Skattebo with a proven veteran. New Orleans Saints five-time Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara, in the final year of his contract, remains a dual-threat option that might cost only a fourth- or fifth-round pick. Tennessee Titans back Tony Pollard, a one-time Pro Bowler with four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, is another realistic target at age 29.

On the defensive line, Washington Commanders' Daron Payne, a one-time Pro Bowler in a contract year, could be available if the struggling Commanders decide to sell. Tampa Bay's Vita Vea, a two-time Pro Bowler, would be a top-tier addition but carries a $30 million salary next season, making a deal more complex.
