Longtime broadcaster Ernie Johnson is stepping away from "Inside the NBA" after 37 years with the TNT studio show, telling colleagues "it's just time" to move on. Johnson has been the face of the Emmy Award-winning program since its inception, guiding coverage alongside analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kenny Smith.
The announcement was reported Wednesday by Brian Niemietz of the New York Daily News. Johnson's tenure spanned nearly four decades of NBA history, from the Jordan era through the current generation of stars. His steady hosting style and chemistry with the analyst panel helped make the show a cultural touchstone for basketball fans.
No immediate replacement has been named. TNT Sports, which airs NBA games through the 2024-25 season, has not commented on future plans for the studio program.
