Former Major League Baseball outfielder Monte Harrison has embarked on a new athletic chapter, joining the University of Arkansas football program after a professional baseball career that included being traded as part of the deal that sent Christian Yelich to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Harrison, who appeared in games for the Miami Marlins as recently as July 2021, was originally acquired by Milwaukee from Miami in the January 2018 trade that brought reigning National League MVP Yelich to the Brewers. The outfielder spent several seasons in the Milwaukee and Miami organizations before stepping away from professional baseball.
The multi-sport athlete has now resurfaced on the gridiron for the Arkansas Razorbacks, marking a rare transition from professional baseball to collegiate football. Harrison's move highlights the unique athletic versatility that made him a highly regarded two-sport prospect coming out of high school.
