Florida State University has dismissed head football coach Mike Norvell after more than six seasons, the school announced Sunday. The decision comes with a substantial financial commitment, as the university will owe Norvell a buyout of nearly $50 million.
Norvell, who was hired in December 2019, compiled a record during his tenure. The move signals a new direction for the Seminoles program.
Details regarding the search for a replacement have not yet been released.
