The Denver Broncos clinched the AFC West lead with a comeback win over the Kansas City Chiefs, capped by a goal-line stand in the final seconds.
With 15 seconds left, Patrick Mahomes drove the Chiefs to the 1-yard line. On fourth-and-1, Mahomes appeared to connect with Rashee Rice for a go-ahead touchdown, but officials flagged right tackle Jaylon Moore for a false start, pushing the ball back to the 6-yard line. Mahomes was then sacked by Malcolm Roach to end the game.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he did not see the infraction. "I didn't see it," Reid said. "I saw him move his head, but I didn't see a false start." Moore also expressed uncertainty.
The loss marked the Chiefs' second straight defeat after a 5-0 start. Mahomes has now lost three times when holding a double-digit fourth-quarter lead, falling to 80-3 in such situations.
