Philadelphia 76ers forward Jaylen Brown has forcefully denied allegations from former Celtics player and current broadcaster Brian Scalabrine that he demanded a trade from Boston and presented a list of ultimatums during the offseason. Brown's representatives called the claim "10,000% a lie," and Brown himself addressed the matter after the Sixers' win on Wednesday, stating he never demanded a trade nor made any list of demands.
"I never demanded a trade. Never made a list of ultimatums. None of that is true," Brown said, according to the Philly Voice. He added that he has no interest in letting false allegations follow him to Philadelphia and will stay focused on his new opportunity with the 76ers.
The controversy stems from a turbulent offseason in which Brown's name surfaced in trade talks involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and he was eventually dealt to Philadelphia in a blockbuster for Paul George. The Celtics' handling of the situation has been described as sloppy compared to the usual calculated approach of president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, fueling speculation about a fractured relationship between Brown and former teammate Jayson Tatum.
Brown indicated he may address the full story at an appropriate time but not during the season. The next chapter arrives quickly, with the Celtics visiting Philadelphia on November 10, ensuring the storyline will remain in the spotlight.
