Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been dealt a significant financial blow after an NBA rule rendered him ineligible for a supermax contract extension worth up to $304 million.
The league's collective bargaining agreement requires players to meet specific performance criteria, such as All-NBA team selections, to qualify for the designated veteran player extension. Edwards, despite his rapid rise, has not yet satisfied those benchmarks.
The loss of supermax eligibility represents a major setback in Edwards' earning potential and complicates the Timberwolves' long-term roster planning.
