Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry said she threw a drink at a man during a Washington Wizards game on October 21 after he made what she described as a "truly vile" comment toward her. The incident occurred at Capital One Arena during the Wizards' game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Video footage posted by TMZ shows McHenry and a male companion speaking with an usher while nearby fans heckled her. As they attempted to leave, a liquid appeared to hit the back of her head, prompting her to throw her own drink. McHenry later gave the middle finger and blew kisses to the crowd as some threw towels.

In a social media video, McHenry explained that a man in front of her had made "egregiously loud" and "vile" remarks about Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma's fiancée, model Winnie Harlow, who has vitiligo. After McHenry made a snarky comment, another man turned and directed a profane insult at her. The situation escalated when they returned to their seats and drinks were thrown at them.

McHenry said the "main agitator" then made a comment about what should be done to her, allegedly referencing gang rape, which led her to throw the remainder of her beer. She and her friend left the arena, and the agitator was ejected. Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Wizards and the arena, did not immediately respond to inquiries.

McHenry, who worked at ESPN from 2014 to 2017 and later at Fox News, had announced in September that she was working as a press advisor for the U.S. Department of State. Reports indicate she resigned from that position the day after the incident. McHenry stated she has no regrets, saying she was "sticking up for Winnie Harlow" and for herself.
