Newcastle United has made a significant recruitment move following the departures of Steve Nickson and Andy Howe, according to a report from SB Nation. The Premier League club confirmed the major hire on Sunday, though specific details about the new appointment and the roles vacated by Nickson and Howe were not immediately disclosed.
The development comes as Newcastle prepares for the 2026/27 Premier League season, with the team scheduled to host Liverpool at St James' Park on August 23, 2026. The stadium, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, remains the club's historic home ground.
Both Nickson and Howe had been part of Newcastle's backroom structure, though the club has not publicly detailed the circumstances surrounding their exits. The new hire is expected to bolster the club's operational or technical setup ahead of the upcoming campaign.
