Freiburg sporting director Julian Schuster has offered a colorful explanation of the club's Conference League triumph, using the metaphors of "Black Sea Waves" and "gummy bears" to describe the journey. Speaking to German Football News on Friday, November 6, 2026, Schuster detailed the emotional and tactical elements behind the historic European success.
The Bundesliga side's victory in the UEFA Conference League marked a significant milestone for the club. Schuster, a former Freiburg captain, has been instrumental in shaping the team's strategy since moving into his administrative role. His vivid analogies appear to reference the unpredictable nature of the campaign ("Black Sea Waves") and the sweet, perhaps unexpected, reward ("gummy bears").
Further details on the specific matches, opponents, and Schuster's full commentary were not provided in the initial report. The achievement adds to Freiburg's growing reputation in European competition under coach Christian Streich.
