Eight MLB Players Receive $23.15 Million Qualifying Offers for 2026-27 Offseason
World Sports · 05:12:25 - Thursday, 5 November 2026

Eight Major League Baseball free agents were extended a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer on Monday, the highest amount since the system began. If a player declines, his former team may receive draft-pick compensation, while any team signing him would forfeit a draft pick. This year's group of eight is one of the smallest ever; only six players received offers in 2020, while 13 were tagged last offseason. Since 2012, 157 qualifying offers have been made and only 18 accepted, including a record four last year.

The qualifying offer is set as the average of the top 125 salaries and applies to eligible free agents who spent the entire prior season with one team and have never before received a QO. Players have until 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 17 to accept or reject. Below are the eight players who received offers, listed in order of free-agent ranking:

Adrián Morejón, RP, Padres

One of baseball's top relievers over the last three seasons, Morejón posted a 2.83 ERA with 11.2 K/9 and a 1.08 WHIP. His four-pitch arsenal makes him a candidate to convert to a starter.

Trevor Rogers, SP, Orioles

After a 2024 trade to Baltimore, Rogers struggled early but returned in 2025 with a 1.81 ERA in 18 starts. He finished 2026 with a 2.90 ERA over his last 20 starts.

Randy Arozarena, OF, Mariners

The power-speed threat recorded his sixth straight 20-20 season in 2026, hitting .281 with 26 home runs, 79 RBI, 26 steals and a .381 on-base percentage, good for a career-best 5.7 WAR.

Seiya Suzuki, OF, Cubs

Suzuki posted a career-high 5.1 WAR in 2026, driven by significant defensive improvement. He hit .270 with 26 home runs, 86 RBI and an improved walk rate.

Ryan Jeffers, C, Twins

Limited to 92 games by injury, Jeffers has been a very good hitting catcher on a rate basis for four years and is also a quality defender.

Jake Bauers, 1B, Brewers

The NLCS MVP and World Series champion enjoyed a career year with a 140 OPS+ and 3.3 WAR in 144 games. He has never earned more than $2.7 million in a season.

Brandon Lowe, 2B, Pirates

Lowe set a career high with 5.4 WAR in 150 games, hitting 35 home runs and averaging 35 homers per 162 games. Defensive gains and struggles against left-handers remain questions.

David Bednar, RP, Yankees

Bednar rebounded in 2026 with a 2.47 ERA, 9.9 K/9, 1.04 WHIP and 35 saves, proving he can handle a high-profile closer role with a solid playoff track record.
