Fantasy Football Week 8 Winners and Losers: Jonah Coleman Emerges as Broncos' Lead Back
World Sports · 05:13:01 - Thursday, 5 November 2026

Week 8 of the NFL season provided telling results as contenders separated from pretenders both on the field and in fantasy leagues. Teams like the Broncos, Lions, Steelers, and Buccaneers found ways to win, while the Browns, Falcons, Cowboys, and Ravens (with Lamar Jackson potentially out for the season) struggled. In fantasy, managers with three or fewer losses are comfortable, while those with four or more face pressure.

Week 8 Fantasy Winners

Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman dominated the second half against the Chiefs, totaling 30 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns with no fumbles. He added a 51-yard catch-and-run and a five-yard touchdown, marking his second straight week as Denver's most effective back. Unless the Broncos acquire a running back via trade, Coleman projects as a weekly No. 2 fantasy option.

Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson has scored 13 or more PPR points in three of his last four games, missing only a game where he left early with a concussion. He has developed a strong connection with quarterback Kyler Murray on seam routes. Despite a tough upcoming schedule against Green Bay, San Francisco, and New England, Hockenson remains a startable low-end TE1.

Week 8 Fantasy Losers

Cardinals wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. (listed with the Jets in statistical profiles) produced zero fantasy points after consecutive strong weeks. Quarterback Geno Smith targeted Adonai Mitchell downfield and Garrett Wilson on shorter routes, leaving Cooper with 13 targets, 12 receptions, 248 yards, and two touchdowns on the season but a blank week. He now barely registers as a No. 3 fantasy receiver.

Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf had a brutal outing with six targets, one reception for four yards, and a crucial drop on a potential big play. Even accounting for the drop, his line would have been flat. Metcalf has topped 8 PPR points in three games and 13 PPR points in two games this season. With a Week 9 bye approaching, managers must decide whether to hold or revise expectations.
