British tennis player Jodie Burrage has revealed she received death threats and abusive messages on social media following her first WTA match in 16 months. The 25-year-old returned to competition at a WTA event after a lengthy injury layoff.
Burrage, who reached the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, said the abuse came after her recent match. She called for better protection for athletes online. The WTA and relevant authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
